After the Okanogan football team sustained its first loss of this season to Cashmere in blowout fashion last month, the Bulldogs knew they couldn’t let the loss derail their campaign, as their loss to the Caribou Trail League power did a year ago.
“After that game, we knew we needed to test ourselves mentally. We lined up most of the starting defense against the starting offense and went at it,” said Tyler Morris, a starting running back and defensive end. “I was running at kids like Enrique Vargas, an all-league linebacker, and Jim Townsend, who in my eyes is the best defensive player in the league and maybe the state. Going at those guys, taking licks and knocking back at them, it’s an experience, but it’s fun at the same time.
