Fourth annual Read-A-Thon will be another page-turner

WENATCHEE — Preparing for Thanksgiving usually means getting turkey and fixings from the store, but 9-year-old Elijah White gets ready by going to the library for a box full of books as he launches his fourth annual Thanksgiving Holiday Read-A-Thon for literacy.

The fourth-grader at Columbia Elementary School has been raising money for the Literacy Council of Chelan and Douglas Counties since way back in first grade when he told his mother, Rebekah, he wanted to do something “to help other people.” And what could he do? “Read!” he told his mom.
