WASHINGTON, D.C. — The 88-foot-tall evergreen cut earlier this month in eastern Washington now stands tall here as the Capitol Christmas Tree.

Harvested from the Colville National Forest, the Engelmann spruce traveled 5,000 miles by truck and stopped in 26 cities — including Wenatchee — before being erected Monday in the shadow of the Capitol dome. Lighting of the tree is Dec. 3.
