NCW — A ban on most indoor and outdoor burning has been further expanded and will continue until at least Sunday.

A strong temperature inversion remains stalled over much of the region, causing stagnant air that allows pollutants to build up.

The inversion is expected to remain until Saturday or Sunday, when the National Weather Service is predicting the possibility of a strong winter storm.
