Man trapped in auger at Purina Mill in Spokane

SPOKANE — A 20-year-old man was trapped in a commercial auger at the Purina Mill in Spokane this morning. Rescue personnel were working to free him.

The man’s arm and leg up to the knee were trapped in the auger, said Brian Schaeffer, assistant chief with Spokane Fire Department. Schaeffer said at 7 a.m. that the man was conscious and breathing. The call came in at 6:48 a.m.
