So you have been reading this column for a while or this is your first read. What do you do with the information to put it into action?

Suggestions have been made about meeting with others to help them, networking with those you know to find business for each other, and joining an organization where referrals might happen. Well, here is a way to bring it all together for you.

SCORE, the business organization that helps small businesses with how to start or grow a business, will begin offering “Score With Your Business” forums along with Business Network International locally. Joel Frank, District Director of Washington District 1094 of SCORE, along with me as the former executive director of BNI Central and SE Washington, will be leading these meetings. We are both SCORE mentors.

The meetings will be held monthly for half-days for a six-month period. There will be a limit of 12 small business owners per group where business issues can be addressed using a proven process from SCORE. There will be a mix of the type of businesses working together in a confidential and accountability setting. This can be an excellent way for you to have your business questions answered in a structured and safe forum. Members will present their issue each time followed by a question period and then a solution roundtable with action items. The meetings will end with member summaries and commitment.

The benefit of these meetings will be:

1) business advice from people that know

2) action items that help your business succeed

3) value for growing your business

4) actionable, appropriate and accountable advice

5) always a take away or idea

6) affordable

7) strategic excellence in business concepts

8) quarterly speakers

9) speaker and dinner evening event

Contact either myself at dougandjoycem@gmail.com or Joel Frank at score1094@gmail.com to sign up. Meetings will begin as soon as there are 12 businesses that are ready to participate.

The intent of the program is to help business owners solve problems and work on thinking strategically. SCORE will provide ongoing support and assistance. There will also be goal setting and strategic planning and help with implementation and follow through.

The intent of the meetings is to offer an opportunity for small businesses to network with others like themselves in a safe and confidential setting. This is a pilot program that will be expanded throughout the region and possibly nationally from right here in Wenatchee. You are invited to be in on the beginning of the possibilities. Now that is networking that can grow your business.

Doug Morgan is director consultant for BNI Central and SE Washington along with his wife, Joyce. He is also a SCORE mentor. He can be reached online through http://www.bnicentral sewa.com or email dougandjoycem@gmail.com.
