ROCK ISLAND — A 20-year-old Rock Island man was arrested Friday after a stabbing at a home that closed the nearby playground at Rock Island Elementary School on Friday.
Jordain E. Berreth was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and residential burglary at his residence, also near the school, said Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal.
He is accused of stabbing another man on the top of the head and neck in what Gjesdal said were not life-threatening injuries.
That injured man told deputies that he knew the suspect and had purchased “some bad stuff” and a laptop from him and another man, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Detective Tim Scott.
The injured man said that Berreth and another man, who is still at large, threw rocks at his residence in the 1500 block of Center Street early Friday morning, according to the affidavit.
After an altercation, the two men ran off. Gjesdal said deputies are seeking the second suspect.
