WENATCHEE — A contractor will soon begin putting down 11 miles of paint striping on resurfaced Miller Street.
The Wenatchee City Council on Thursday agreed to pay $188,000 for the work, which will begin shortly.
The road was resurfaced with a tar-and-gravel chip seal in late August. It was the first major street in the city be get chip-sealed.
City Engineer Gary Owen said the work will involve putting down the equivalent length of 6-1/2 football fields of lane markings and 11 football fields worth of crosswalk lines. In all, it works out to about 58,000 feet of 4-inch striping, he said.
As part of the striping project, a continuous center turn lane will be added from First Street south of Red Apple Road, eliminating on-street parking.
