WENATCHEE — Wenatchee police arrested a Wenatchee man after he tried to use a stolen credit card twice at the same local store.
William Winegarden Jr., 42, was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center Friday on suspicion of identity theft, two counts of possession of stolen property and driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
Police received a call Friday from a Wenatchee man who claimed a credit card from his missing wallet had just been used for purchases at Stan’s Merry Mart, said Sgt. Edgar Reinfeld. Police went to the store to obtain a description of the suspect. Minutes later, the store called police to say the suspect had returned to use the credit card a second time. After a brief chase, police stopped Winegarden on Malaga street and made the arrest.
