PORT HURON, Mich. — The Wenatchee Wild fell 2-1 Saturday against the Port Huron Fighting Falcons.
Port Huron’s Mitch Maloney led the winning effort with a two-goal performance.
He lit the lamp midway through the first period to give his team a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Maloney put the puck in the back of the net once again in the second period to put the Fighting Falcons ahead 2-0.
Wenatchee’s Sam Becker cut the deficit about one minute later off an assist from Parker Tuomie and Troy Loggins to make it a 2-1 contest, but the Wild were unable to generate the equalizer.
Wenatchee netminder Chase Perry recorded 20 saves on 22 shots. The Wild were 0-for-5 on power play opportunities and were perfect on the penalty kill.
