Howard and Kay Bumgarner of Peshastin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 6 during a surprise get-together at their home.
The event was planned by their granddaughter, Janette Bumgarner of East Wenatchee, and their daughters and sons-in-law, Malinda and Brian James and Tammy and Don Brewer, all of Cashmere, and Melany and Mike Stevenson of Nine Mile Falls.
The couple is planning a trip to Hawaii with their family at a later date.
Howard Bumgarner and Kay Murray were married Sept. 27, 1963, at the Central Christian Church in Wenatchee. They have lived in East Wenatchee, Wenatchee, Twisp and Peshastin during their marriage. They have lived in Peshastin for the past 38 years. They own and operate a pear orchard.
He worked for the field services department at Tree Top for 38 years. She has worked for several different employers, but primarily helped out with the orchard. The couple also operated a fruit stand where they sold pears and apples during the harvest for many years.
They have one granddaughter.
