The Wenatchee World website has implemented a change in our commenting policy where reader comments must first be approved by a moderator before they will appear.
The newsroom has several people with the authority to approve or reject comments and we will do so as quickly as possible. On weekends or late nights, with fewer people in the newsroom, comment approval is likely to be slowed.
Previously, when registered users submitted comments they would appear below the story immediately. Any moderation was done after the comment was flagged or noticed by the staff as potentially being inappropriate. That would sometimes result in harmful, hurtful or off-subject comments being visible for extended periods.
We appreciate your patience with this new policy as we strive to provide a forum for constructive feedback on our stories. See below for general guidelines on comment approvals.
