Richard Allen Ray

August 9, 1963 ~ October 8, 2013

Richard Allen Ray, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2013, while on a hiking adventure in the Enchantments. He was born to Frank and Kaye Ray on Kaye’s birthday, August 9, 1963, in Pullman, WA. Rick graduated in 1981 from Eastmont High School and in 1983 from ITT Peterson Technical College. Rick met his beautiful wife, Peggy, while attending classes at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. They both loved the outdoors and together enjoyed all that Alaska had to offer. Peggy was the love of Rick’s life. Peggy passed away in April of 2006, leaving Rick a lost soul. Peggy and Rick did not have children before she passed, but they did adopt a puppy “Amy” that they adored.

Rick moved to Fruitland, ID and lived with Peggy’s family and taught the computer lab at the local elementary school. In 2009, Rick relocated to the Wenatchee area and enjoyed being able to spend time with his parents, brothers and their families. Rick died doing what he loved, hiking and camping.

He is survived by his parents, Frank and Kaye Ray; his brothers, Terry and Brian (Kristen) Ray; his nieces, Mandy, Krista, Mallory and Rine; and nephews, Kellen and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy; and brother, Doug. Rick was a tender hearted soul who will be truly missed by all those who loved him dearly. Rick’s dog, Amy, is now the lost soul missing her best friend.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Jones & Jones ~ Betts Memorial Chapel. Please express your thoughts and memories on the online guest book at jonesjonesbetts.com. Arrangements are by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home.
