WENATCHEE — Now’s your chance to take a chance to win a heavy-duty commercial orchard sprayer in the Washington Apple Education Foundation’s annual benefit raffle.
Tickets for the 2014 REARS 400-gallon TTN Powerblast Sprayer, valued at $20,000, went on sale this week at $25 each. The winning ticket will be drawn during the Washington State Horticultural Annual Meeting on Dec. 2-4 at the Wenatchee Convention Center.
Proceeds from the fundraising raffle — held for 19 years — will go to the WAEF’s charitable programs, including scholarships for families in fruit-growing communities. This year, college scholarships from WAEF were valued a more than $650,000, said a foundation press release. An additional $20,000 went to programs that assist farmworker families to succeed in scholastics.
Tickets are available from the WAEF office or at the foundation booth at the Hort Convention. The Powerblast sprayer was donated by the Rear family, who manufacture farm equipment in Eugene, Ore.
