The Wenatchee High School Golden Apple Marching Band took second place in its division and earned third place overall at last weekend’s Harvest Festival of Bands in Yakima. Fifteen of the best bands from around the region participated in the competition. The band is under the direction of Jim Kovach and assistant director Tim Zanol.
Last Friday night, students from Wenatchee’s three middle schools joined the high school band for the pregame show and for a lively taste of playing in the stands at Wenatchee’s football game against Davis. The Golden Apple Band performed the entire show during halftime for the crowd. Early Saturday morning the band was off to the competition for two more performances. In addition to the second-place award, they brought home awards of best marching and best brass and winds.
This weekend, the GA Band will represent compete at the Sunset Festival of Bands in Sumner.
To show its appreciation for the community’s continued support, the band invites you to come see and hear what others are talking about. Please stop by for any Monday or Thursday evening practice between 6 and 9 p.m. We hope to see you at the WHS track off Red Apple Road as Wenatchee’s own award-winning band performs for you.
