POULSBO — Police say a Kingston man accused of stabbing a hypodermic syringe into a sausage package at a Walmart store in Poulsbo told them it was a “ridiculously stupid” decision he made while sleep-deprived and on heroin.

The Kitsap Sun reports that prosecutors on Monday charged 33-year-old Daniel Thieman with malicious mischief and placing poison or other harmful objects or substances in food. The store ultimately tossed out about $19,000 in meat after the syringe was found Friday. Thieman is held on $250,000 bail.
