CASHMERE — Traffic was snarled on Highway 2 near Cashmere Tuesday evening after a semitrailer struck jersey barriers, rolled and came to rest blocking parts of both westbound and eastbound lanes.
The 4:25 p.m. crash pushed about 12 of the concrete barriers, which had been in the center of the highway, into the eastbound lanes, said Trooper Darren Wright, a State Patrol spokesman.
Traffic was able to move on the shoulder of the roadway but the highway was not flowing smoothly for about five hours.
Ruslan V. Bereziychuk, 28, of Auburn, was treated and released after the westbound semitrailer he was driving crashed, according to a State Patrol report.
Wright said the load of apples Bereziychuk was carrying shifted on a curve, sending him out of control.
The cause of the accident was listed as an unsecured load.
