A hopeful sign
Last Saturday was Make a Difference day in Wenatchee. Wanting to do my part I went out with roller and paint to cover any graffiti that I could find. Guess what? I couldn’t find any! I’m sure there is some that I missed, but when you have seen the overwhelming amount of graffiti that I have seen as a long-haul truck driver driving often into Southern California, you really appreciate the absence.
My now retired trucker hat goes off to the youth in Wenatchee for caring enough to discourage tagging, and also to the many people, who like me, will not allow graffiti to exist for more than 24 hours. When you quickly paint over it, you destroy their desire to repeat it. It does not matter what color you cover it with. They don’t want to spend their hard-earned money for a few hours of publicity and hopefully they will move onto more positive methods of expression.
