William “Bill” Arthur Nisbet (Van Patten)

Kent, WA

In memory of William “Bill” Arthur Nisbet (Van Patten), who went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2013, at the age of 64. Bill was born May 19, 1949, in Maple Valley, WA, to Anne and Reverend Gerald “Gerry” Van Patten. At the age of one, Bill’s father passed away as a result of a medical condition. His mom later remarried and Bill was adopted by his step-dad. After settling in Shoreline, WA, Bill attended Shoreline High School and graduated in 1967. After high school, he attended Edison Technical College, studying automobile repair and became a mechanic. Bill moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1972 and met Patsy Cosgrove, whom he later married. They gave birth to two wonderful children, Joel and Kathy, after having moved to Kittitas, WA where Bill worked for Alcoa. Patsy and Bill divorced but later re-married, reuniting the family until Patsy died in 2003. He later met and married Kerry Grange in 2007, who survived Bill.

Bill enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved cars and racing and would spend a lot of time down at Seattle International Raceway (SIR) watching the drag races. He owned, throughout his lifetime, many classic cars, including a 1952 Buick, a 1965 Malibu and a Triumph Spitfire, to name a few. Bill also loved old gospel music, which began with the Gospel Quartets. He attended many concerts and became a regular at the Paramount and Egyptian Moore theaters, where a lot of the concerts took place. He moved to Wenatchee and lived in that area most of his adult life, but finally settled down in Kent, WA with his wife Kerry, in 2010, and shortly thereafter passed away due to his battle with Cancer and Hepatitis C.

Bill was preceded in death by his dad, Gerald Van Patten; his grandparents on both sides of the family; his step-dad; his first wife, Patsy; and son, Joshua. He is survived by his wife, Kerry Nisbet; his mom, Anne Manderson; his two children, Joel Cosgrove and Kathy Cosgrove; Kerry’s children, Rex Grange and Kellie Sanchez; his two brothers, Gordon Nisbet and Wayne Nisbet; his five grandchildren; and a multitude of cousins, aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Service for Bill will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Riverview Community Church, 4135 So. 216th Street, Kent WA. Pastor Andy Rosas will be presiding with a message given by Bill’s cousin, Rev. Richard Vicknair of Seattle. A reception will be held afterwards.
