Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Lindsley of Chelan announce the engagement of their daughter, Irene, to Henry Andrew Bradley of Chelan.
If Wenatchee is to have a free school of diversified farming next winter, those interested will have to make it known very soon. The state college at Pullman is pressing Secretary Hoppock of the Commercial Club for an immediate list of at least 150 names of those who will agree to attend the school sessions regularly. There will be morning, afternoon and evening sessions for a week with no tuition charged. The college expects to send a dozen experts to give the very latest scientific instruction in horticulture, stock raising, dairying, domestic science and all other subjects of nature in which there is local interest.

The Keokuk Electro Metals Co. plant at Rock Island has re-started its fourth furnace, bringing the plant back up to full production, Manager Bill Thoroughman reported this week. A third furnace had started last month. Both furnaces had gone out of production about a year ago as the plant’s inventory of alloy metal grew faster than the market demand. Sales have picked up and inventory has been reduced recently, said Thoroughman. Resumption of the furnaces has added more than 50 men to the Keokuk payroll, bringing total payroll to more than 190.
A Leavenworth man is Chelan County’s Pioneer of the Year. William G. “Bill” Crowe was selected for the honor at the seventh annual Chelan County Old Settlers’ Picnic held Sunday, attended by about 600 people.
Mrs. Robert McDougall was elected president of the Wenatchee Branch of the American Association of University Women.

Big O Tires, a national tire and car-repair franchise, is scheduled to open on Grant Road in East Wenatchee this November. The 5,000 square-foot store will be located in the 700 block of Grant Road, just east of the current commercial development on the street, on a lot purchased from Curwood Gackstetter.
Rick Sutherland, the former general manager of the WestCost Camlin Hotel in Seattle, is the new general manager of the WestCoast Wenatchee Center Hotel.
