The hills were alive with better lighting as hundreds of theater-goers descended from the Ski Hill Amphitheater after watching “Sound of Music” this summer. The Community Foundation of North Central Washington awarded Leavenworth Summer Theater $1,200 to install a more efficient, safer lighting system along the 300-yard path from the stage to the parking lot. The new LED bulbs are less taxing on Ski Hill’s antiquated electrical system and they produce less heat, said Susan Hufman, executive director of Leavenworth Summer Theater. The lighting system was ready in time for the first show in July and taken down after the end of the season last week, she said.
