Home lost, community responds
We would like to thank all who have supported us after the loss of our home in the Colockum-Tarp fire.
We were out of town when the fire occurred. A good friend who lives in East Wenatchee called us shortly after the fire started, not realizing we were in Walla Walla with our granddaughter. We called the person staying at our home, watching our dogs and cat. Level 3 evacuation happened quickly, but she was able to take our dogs and cat to another . We are very thankful that no lives were lost.
We would like to especially thank a few people: Rufus Woods, the Woods family and our past co-workers at The Wenatchee World, who fixed up the Woods House Music Conservatory as a landing place until we get back on our feet. We would also like to thank our church families and friends at the Foothills Foursquare Church and Stemilt Community Church. Diane Graves also held a fundraiser for the Colockum families who were affected by the fire and the flood that followed.
We truly feel blessed. This is a great community and we can’t imaging living anywhere else.
