WENATCHEE — Discounts and even money to attend are still available for an upcoming conference on how communities can reduce their risk of wildfire.
The conference “Working together: Collaboration for Fire Adapted Communities” will happen Sept. 25 and 26 at Wenatchee Convention Center.
Early bird registration through Friday costs $45 per person, plus $10 for an optional field trip. After Friday, the rate goes up to $65 per person.
Event sponsors also have a few $250 stipends available to people who would like to attend but need financial help.
Topics include agency and community collaboration, fire-safe methods that reduce risk to homes in fire-prone areas, tips to help first responders set priorities, and how to develop a community wildfire protection plan.
The event includes an evening social with open bar and appetizers.
Event sponsors include the South Central Washington Resource Conservation and Development Council, Fire Adapted Communities and The Nature Conservancy.
