Patty joined her husband, Kris Gudmundson, and her daughter, Gaye Gavin, on the path to forever September 6, 2013. She was born to Claude and Laura Kelley on June 7, 1920, and so proud to be on the first ‘Cradle Roll’ of the “new” Deaconess Hospital. Patty was the elder of her four sisters, Evie McKee, Margie Salminen, and Mavis Fenno and, at 93, had outlived all of the Kelley girls. You might remember Patty as the pretty usherette at the Liberty Theater, or the beautiful lady behind the cosmetic counter at Thrifty Drug Store. She was probably best known as Kris Gudmundson’s sweetheart since high school. They were married in Oakland, CA, where Kris was in aeronautics school. Later, they moved to Spokane and then returned to Wenatchee Heights when they purchased the family orchards from Kris’s mother, Desa Gudmundson/Trumble. Patty was a lifelong resident of Wenatchee. She and Kris were successful orchardists on Wenatchee Heights, where they raised their two daughters, Gaye Gavin and Joy Reese. They lived on the Heights until 1990, when the orchards and house were sold and they moved to Continental Condominiums in Wenatchee. Winters were spent at their snowbird home in Tucson, AZ - Patty’s favorite. At the time of Kris’s death in 2004, they had been married 64 years.

Patty is survived by her daughter, Joy Reese and her husband, Tom Reese; son-in-law, Rick Gavin; grandchildren, Kristjan Gavin (Mike Stees), Andy Gavin, Erin Gavin (Lorraine Lewis), Kristjana Reese, and Desa Schrader (Brent Schrader); and great-grandchildren, Brenner Richardson/Gavin, Ella Schrader, Krissa Shively and Baby Schrader to be.

We will miss our gorgeous fashion plate. Her hair was always perfect; she wore the latest trends and always had her poodle, Josie, tucked under her arm.

The family would like to thank Patty’s caregivers at Cherry Lane and the entire staff and friends at Highgate Senior Living for the loving care during her last years.

Visitation will be held at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club.
