Charles W. Kempter has resigned his position as assistant secretary of the Commercial Club and has accepted a new job with Manager W.O. Dow at the local office of the North Pacific Fruit Distributors.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Anderson left this morning for Ephrata where they will spend the day as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Brownfield.
Mrs. Robert F. Johnston of 719 Cascade street will host the arts and crafts department of the Women’s Club Thursday afternoon.
Mrs. C.A. Morrison, Zelma Reeves, Halcyon Morrison and Helen Tibbits left yesterday for Dryden where they will spend a few days at the Tibbits ranch.
50 years ago — 1963
Two new officers went on duty at the local office of the Washington State Patrol this week. Assuming duties as lieutenant in this detachment is Joseph Harvey, transferred from Everett. Michael Daviduke becomes a trooper here, having been transferred from the Rosalia area near Spokane.
An open house celebration this month will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Joan Shelton School of Ballet.
Officers of Orchard Junior High School Parents-Teachers Association for the coming year are Clay Johnson, president; Mrs. Mel Younkin, first vice president; Mrs. James Uecker, second vice president; Lawrence Mead, third vice president; Mrs. Archie Lodge, secretary; and Robert Stephens, treasurer.

New student body officers have assumed their duties at Eastmont High School for the coming year. President Spencer Taylor said his goals for the year are to develop a high level of school spirit and student involvement in activities. Shannon Diede is the school’s vice president. Other officers are Heather Witte, secretary; Wendy West, treasurer; and Aaron Reiman, social-publicity director.
Jill Brisbine is the new president of Central Washington Hospital Childens Foundation Guild No. 4 for the coming year. Other officers are Dianne Gillin, vice president; Andrea Brizindine, secretary; and Debbie Gellatly, treasurer.
