Our state ranks ninth in the nation for global trade, says the latest issue of Global Trade Magazine.
With trade worth $11 billion, the report says that our “recent run of strong overseas performance was in many ways fueled by its State Trade and Export Promotion, a key part of
2010’s Small Business Jobs Act.”
Export assistance to 446 small businesses, says the report, resulted in a return of $75 for every dollar invested by the state, supporting more than 1,200 jobs, it claims.
The report does not identify the kinds of export that have shown growth.
I hope our fruit exports were among those who grew, for our region depends on them.
