WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee Valley will play host to the inaugural Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Fall Festival on Saturday and Sunday.
More than a dozen NWAACC schools will be represented in tennis and golf competitions.
Golf teams from 10 member schools will compete at Highlander Golf Club in East Wenatchee on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will also see five women’s teams and three men’s tennis teams play in a jamboree format at the Wenatchee Racquet & Athletic Club.
Also, Wenatchee Valley College will play host to Edmonds in a soccer doubleheader Saturday. The women meet at noon, followed by the men at 2:15 p.m.
NWAACC executive director Marco Azurdia, a former WVC coach and athletic director, proposed the ‘fall festival’ concept this spring.
“The events serve a dual purpose — helping fulfill the NWAACC’s mission of providing great experiences for their student-athletes, while at the same time putting the Wenatchee Valley on the radar for future consideration for NWAACC events,” according to a press release issued by the Wenatchee Valley Sports Council. “It’s always gratifying to see multiple entities create the scheduling flexibility to pull off a multi-sport event.”
