BLAINE, Minn. — The Wenatchee Wild won 2-1 in a shootout Thursday against the Minnesota Wilderness to stay undefeated on the season.
Wenatchee’s Joseph Kaszupki hit the game-winning shot in the shootout and Troy Loggins, Parker Tuomie also found the back of the net and helped the team win the shootout 3-2.
Gadel Gumerov recorded the Wild’s lone goal in regulation with a wrist shot from the right circle in the second period off an assist from Parker Tuomie. The Wilderness responded with a score by Billy Exell to make it a 1-1 contest going into the final period.
The Wild, who are 2-0 on the season, improved their shot output and put up 26 shots on goal. Chase Perry recorded 26 saves on 27 shots in his first career North American Hockey League start.
Both Wenatchee and the Wilderness went 0-for-2 on power play opportunities.
The Wild continue their road trip today with a showcase game against the Minnesota Magicians.
