EAST WENATCHEE — A helicopter hit power lines about 11 a.m. today, knocking out power to some Eastside residents.
No one was injured and the pilot, Ryan McDonald, 33, of Entiat, made an emergency landing in a field about 200 feet east of the power line, said Don Culp, undersheriff for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. McDonald was spraying an orchard.
The lines were hit about 11 a.m. in the area of South Kentucky and Rock Island Road, causing a line to pull out of insulators, said Meaghan Vibbert, spokeswoman for the Douglas County PUD. Power was out for about an hour to 361 customers, mostly along Rock Island Road, South Kentucky and Sixth Street Southeast.
