Brenda Lee (Farley) Anderson

Brenda Lee (Farley) Anderson passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, following a ten month battle against cancer. She was born on July 31, 1958, in Miles City, MT and graduated from Darrington High School, Everett Community College and received a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education from CWU. Brenda met her future husband, Bill Anderson, in Ellensburg and married on June 12, 1992, having three wonderful children, Craig, Suzie and Julia. Helping children, especially those with special needs, was Brenda’s passion. She started her 34 year career in education in 1979 and was a special education teacher or school administrator (Program Coordinator, Principal, or Director) in five school districts including, Stanwood, Arlington, Marysville, Cascade (Leavenworth), and East Valley (Yakima). Always trying to make a difference, Brenda served on many local, regional and state educational committees and councils, including several at Central Washington University. In 2007, Brenda was appointed to the council for the Division of Developmental Disabilities of the State of WA by Governor Christine Gregoire. She was completing the second of two three-year terms at the time of her death and had assumed several leadership positions during her time on the council.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Bill, of Peshastin; her three adult children, Craig of Yakima, Suzie of Leavenworth, and Julia of Ellensburg; her parents, Dean and Lola Farley of East Wenatchee; her brother, Greg Farley of Auburn; as well as her three nephews, Cody and wife Kelly, Brian and Tyson; aunts, uncles and cousins.
For their heroic efforts trying to save Brenda’s life and providing for her comfort, her family would like to recognize the physicians, nurses, and staff at The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, The University of Washington Medical Center, Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, and Central Washington Hospital. The family recommends that remembrances be made to the Special Olympics.
A Celebration of Life will be held near the river, at Brenda’s home in Peshastin, on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In addition, a Memorial will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Kellogg/Marsh Elementary school in Marysville, WA, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
