QUINCY — A Quincy police officer struck a pedestrian with his car Saturday after the man ran out in front of the vehicle, the Washington State Patrol said.
Officer Mark Pannek, 30, was at the wheel when Eddie Cook, 61, ran across Highway 28 near Third Avenue S.E. about 1:18 p.m. Cook was taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center, where he was treated and released the same day.
The state patrol investigated the accident and ruled the officer was not at fault, saying Cook’s inattention led to the collision. The vehicle was undamaged and no on was cited.
