Evelyn F. (Gooch) Robbins

September 7, 1918 ~ March 26, 2014

Evelyn F. (Gooch) Robbins, 95, died March 26, 2014. She was born September 7, 1918, at home, near North Salem, MO. She was the third child of Isaac Lee Gooch and Georgia A. (Brantner) Gooch. She graduated Shelby High School in Missouri and was a lifelong learner. Evelyn came to Washington in 1940, to visit her sister, Ruby (Gooch) Guyer and stayed for 74 years. She married Glynn Robbins in August of 1941, and together, they built a life in the Omak, WA area. She packed fruit, helped run an orchard, and was an avid gardener. They donated most of their garden produce to others. Evelyn spent her life being busy. She loved fishing, bowling, baseball, quilting, knitting, crocheting, embroidery and building most anything. No guest went away without fried chicken and a fresh baked pie and she usually had fresh baked cookies in the jar. She was always ready to try something new and then to teach it to others. She loved puzzles.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ruby; and her brothers, Donald, Les, and LeRoy Gooch. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Wayne Gardner); her nieces, including Lona Gooch, Hellen Olbricht, Robin Ashenbrenner, and Julie Gariano; and her nephews, including Vaughn Gooch, Scott Robbins, Marty Robbins, and Forrest Thomson. Other survivors include, Jim and Jane Robbins, Alice Thomson, Geraldine Gooch, Roger Brantner, and Jackie Brantner and Carolyn Robbins. Evelyn had several God children, including Kristy Fagerness and Staci Rizzo. She had many other relatives and friends as well.
