Suspicious fires destroy $76,000 in hay

QUINCY — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two suspicious fires earlier this week that burned up $76,000 worth of hay.

The first fire on Road 7 Northwest was discovered by Quincy police at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday. About 60 to 70 tons of hay valued at $10,000 was lost.

A second haystack fire was reported at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday east of Moses Lake. An estimated 250 to 300 tons of hay with a value of $66,000 was destroyed.
