Dog in danger
I try not to overreact and write a letter over stories that I read about in the paper, but this time I feel I have to. In last night’s (March 26) paper there is a story with a picture on Page A2. The headline is “Cruisin’ Canine.” The picture shows a dog leaning quite a ways out of the window of the passenger side, with one whole leg up into the front of the belly, part of his other and almost half of his body leaning outside and his head on top of the outside rearview mirror. It’s cute, BUT DANGEROUS. There are several things that the owner and driver may not be thinking about, like an accident in traffic that could throw Bodhi out the window, or even into the driver or the window, or toss him around in the car, or, loss of his balance. The urge to jump out to chase something — trust me, those urges are well-established in the instincts of dogs!
