CHELAN — A smoke detector is being credited with saving the lives of two men living in a three-story rental house that caught on fire Sunday morning.

The smoke detector woke up a man in his 20s who was sleeping on the third floor, said Capt. Pat Moore with Chelan County Fire District 7 in Chelan. That man went outside, saw the fire and ran into the main floor to wake his roommate, a man in his 30s who was sleeping. Both escaped unharmed and one of them called 911.
