In the world of rocks, agates are special.
And a very special kind of agate found only near Ellensburg is the famous Ellensburg Blue, prized ever since they were first found.
The origin of these Blues was discussed at a meeting of three clubs Saturday, the Gingko, Prospectors, and Erratics. They heard Nick Zentner of Central Washington University explain the ancient history of these unique agates, which are found in the northwest sector of the Kittitas Valley.
