Lora Louise (Gorsage) Galbraith

October 21, 1929 ~ April 20, 2014

Lora Louise (Gorsage) Galbraith passed peacefully to be with the Lord on April 20, 2014. Lora was born on October 21, 1929, to Colly H. and Nora Manning Gorsage in Aberdeen, WA. She spent her childhood in Fort Peck, MT and later moved to Placerville, ID. She lived in Placerville for five years, then moved to Washington in 1941. Lora graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1947. She was Princess Orondo in the 1947 Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival. Her high school sweetheart, Milton Galbraith, drove the float. She and Milton were married on February 21, 1948. They celebrated their 66th anniversary this year. Lora was the perfect homemaker. She sewed her daughters’ dresses, made the best chocolate chip cookies and created a wonderful, warm home for her family.

Lora volunteered for various organizations through the years, including being a “Pink Lady” volunteer at the hospital. Later, she was a part-time employee at Central Washington Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department. Lora was on the board of the Respite Care Program and volunteered there weekly. Lora was a faithful member of the King’s Orchard Church of Christ. By her actions, you could see that she loved the Lord and she loved people. She taught Sunday school for many years and spent countless hours volunteering at the church. She helped fundraise for Christian college scholarships by selling Rada cutlery for many years.

Lora was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. “Gracious” is a term that describes her. Her kindness and generosity will be remembered by all. She loved life and could do so many things. She was a water-skier, swimmer, avid reader and gardener. She enjoyed playing board games and cards with the family. She was quite competitive and she usually won.

Lora is survived by her husband, Milton Galbraith; daughter, Carol Hill (Mike); daughter, Juanita Munday (Joe) of Alaska; and son, Lance Galbraith (Kari). She has ten grandchildren: Bryan and Meg Galbraith; Nathan, Jeff and Peter Hill; Jared, Tim and Pete Munday; and Gavin and Kale Galbraith. She also has four great-grandchildren: Kate Jolin, Bennett Hill and Carly and Bailey Hill. She was preceded in death by son, Bruce Galbraith.

A Celebration of Life will be held at King’s Orchard Church of Christ on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Arrangements assisted by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley.
