Randy Fuller has a mature approach to hitting.
While a lot of power hitters prefer to pull pitches, Fuller, the Wenatchee Valley College baseball team’s star first baseman/outfielder, prefers to use the whole field. The right-hander has demonstrated that he’s got power to right field, so pitchers can’t automatically get him out with pitches over the outer third of the plate. He’d rather have a high batting average than a gaudy home run total, although he’ll probably end this season with both. When he’s at the plate, he thinks about hitting the gaps, and considers hitting home runs to be a mistake.
