VANTAGE — A World War II-era grenade was found Thursday along the shoreline of the lowered Columbia River near the Vantage boat launch.

The State Patrol bomb squad set off explosives around it about 9 p.m. Thursday but the resulting explosion was likely only from those explosives, and not from the grenade, Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kyle Foreman said.
