April 11, 1922 ~ April 14, 2014

Mary Ellen was the oldest daughter of Thomas and Bessie Prewitt. She was born on April 11, 1922, in Winthrop, WA. After graduating from Twisp High School, she attended business college in Wenatchee. She worked locally as a bookkeeper until she married Harry J. Long in 1955. Harry founded Hale and Long Construction, which continues operations in East Wenatchee to this day. After marriage, Mary Ellen helped her husband with the bookkeeping for their company and was a housewife. The couple never had any children. Harry passed away in 1993.

Mary Ellen’s only sibling, LaVerne Gettmann, passed away last year. Mary Ellen is survived by one niece and one nephew.

Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Wenatchee City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Jones & Jones~Betts Memorial Chapel in Wenatchee.
