TWISP — A break in fiber optic cable in Carlton on Monday afternoon cut internet services, 911 and landline long distance telephone services to people living from Carlton to Mazama.

Cellular service should still work, said Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers.

Anyone with an emergency who cannot reach the 911 dispatch center in Okanogan can go to the Twisp or Winthrop city halls, where they can reach a dispatcher by radio, he said.

The outage is expected to last into the evening.

Police, fire and emergency medical responders still have radio communications with dispatchers.
