Methow Valley wind storm knocks down hundreds of trees

WINTHROP — Areas around Twisp and Winthrop that were damaged by recent wildfires got hit Saturday afternoon with high winds that knocked down hundreds of trees.

“It literally uprooted trees and snapped off trees everywhere,” said Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers. “It took out power lines and sparked little fires, but we got them under control and got everything cleaned up.”
