Late-summer flows could sideline Rock Island Dam

WENATCHEE — Most power generation at Rock Island Dam could stop throughout late summer because of a combination of seasonably low Columbia River flows and effects of the river’s drawdown to take pressure off the damaged Wanapum Dam.

The Columbia River averages a late-summer flow of 75,000 to 80,000 cubic feet per second (cfs), says Gregg Carrington, managing director of energy resources for the Chelan County PUD.
