EAST WENATCHEE — A teen whose friends said he was unable to swim was pulled from the Columbia River and resuscitated Saturday after long minutes spent underwater.

The victim, 18, waded out from a popular swimming cove near the foot of 19th Street Northwest about 4:10 p.m. and ventured into water over his head, East Wenatchee police said. The cove is sheltered by a small sandbar island.
