Iola May Laurenti

Iola May Laurenti, 95, longtime resident of Wenatchee, WA, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, in Boise, ID of natural causes at Spring Creek Assisted Living. She was born March 14, 1918, in Lincoln, NE, to Leroy and Marie (Elwood) Meyer. Her family moved to Lead, SD, where she graduated from high school. She married Theodore A. “Ted” Laurenti on February 7, 1943, in Palo Pinto, TX. The Laurenti family moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1952. Iola worked as a waitress and later was an Avon representative, a position she enjoyed for 45 years. Iola enjoyed her work, bowling and playing cards. She learned how to play Bridge after her husband passed in 1992, and was a member of the Wenatchee Bridge Club. She also belonged to a local sorority and was a lifelong member of the Independent Order of Foresters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Cheryl Laurenti of Sammamish, WA; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Carmon Spaeth of Boise, ID; one sister, Verl Weisenberg of Portland, OR; her pride and joy of three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews still living in Wenatchee.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014, in the military section of the Wenatchee City Cemetery. Her smile is gone, but not forgotten.
