Lynne Marie (Heiberg) Murphy

February 1, 1957 ~ July 12, 2014

We lost our mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Lynne Marie (Heiberg) Murphy, July 12, 2014. She was born on February 1, 1957, to James and Barbara Heiberg in Istanbul, Turkey at a military base. The family moved back stateside, settling in Coronado, CA, and then after the arrival of her younger brother, Chris, in 1960, the family moved across the country to settle in Virginia, where Lynne spent the rest of her youth. During those years, she enjoyed ballet, a love for music, as well as literature, which she carried with her through life in many variations. Southern California called her name again when she headed to San Diego. Shortly thereafter, Lynne settled into the fitness industry, which took her to the Pacific Northwest, where she met Joe Murphy, and together, and separately, they enjoyed successful careers in fitness management. They had a son, Jeremiah, born April 22, 1980. Lynne and Joe where married in Las Vegas in 1981. Lynne, Joe and Jeremiah moved all over the Pacific Northwest for business, but the location they all loved most and shared their most valued and cherished memories was their cabin in Plain, WA on the Chiwawa River. Over these years, Lynne’s passions varied from an Alaskan hunting camp, to ballet in the city, as well as business management with ease and grace. Lynne was known for her elegant style, which radiated a reflection of pure class. After her divorce, she moved to Seattle full-time, where she had a variety of successful careers, including beginning and running a successful school of music. She moved back over to the east side of the mountains, when she was forced into an early retirement due to illness. Even though pain plagued her for the next 15 years, she continued her love for life, maintaining a brave, independent, cheerful outlook of optimism. Her heart being filled with genuine compassion and an interest in others, she made friends easily, spreading joy in whatever way she could, wherever her day may take her. She handled the pain with grace, rarely asking of others, and always doing for others whatever she could.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Heiberg. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son, Jeremiah (Chalane) Murphy; her father, James Heiberg; her brother, Chris (Wendy) Heiberg; her niece, Beth and her nephews, Alex and Scott Heiberg; and ex-husband and lifelong friend, Joe Murphy.
