OKANOGAN — A few hundred people who lost homes or other structures in the Carlton Complex fires will be getting a tax refund, courtesy of their county government.

The assessed value of all structures lost totals $29.4 million, and so far, Okanogan County has sent out over $10,600 in tax refunds, said Treasurer Leah McCormack. That’s just the beginning of refunds that will go back to property owners for both lost structures and reduced property values due to the fires, she said.
