WENATCHEE — Officials in Chelan and Douglas counties say they want to see local statistics on fireworks-caused fires before considering a ban on all fireworks in the two counties.

They came to that conclusion after an hour-long meeting Wednesday afternoon at Wenatchee city hall. Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz scheduled the meeting at the request of the city’s safety committee, which expressed concerns about fireworks fires around the Fourth of July.
