I’ll be honest. I was trying to find a good excuse to mention, with all possible subtlety, that the fourth annual North Central Washington Wine Awards is coming this very Saturday to Town Toyota Center, and if you have even a passing interest in wine or food this event is not to be missed.

Yes, this is naked promotion. The event is presented by our own Foothills magazine and organized by friends and co-workers and other people I admire, and it certainly will continue to be an enormous success, notwithstanding the fact that live music will be provided by the Confluence Jazz Trio, of which I constitute approximately one third. There were will be 30 regional wineries with products to taste, restaurants providing temptation and food enough to satisfy, cider, craft beer and spirits to provide interest and contrast, and the announcement of award-winning wines chosen by a panel of elite judges in a blind tasting. The full results of the competition will appear in the October issue of Foothills. That’s Town Toyota Center, 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Saturday, Saturday. It’s the biggest and best regional wine event of the year. See you there.
