Joseph “Joe” Murphy

June 19, 1938 ~ August 20, 2014

Joe was born on June 19, 1938, in Chicago, IL to William and Esther (Wilson) Murphy. After attending grade school at St. Mary’s Training School in Des Plaines, IL, he moved to Wenatchee and attended Pioneer Junior High, followed by Wenatchee High School, graduating in 1956. He then went to Gonzaga University and after graduation, he taught math in California and also at Seattle Preparatory in Seattle, WA. He married Patricia Donaghy in 1971. They lived in California, before returning to Seattle and going to work at Boeing. Upon retirement, they moved to East Wenatchee, WA. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and of St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was also Secretary of the Catholic Foundation. He enjoyed playing golf with many great friends at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club. He was also an avid Notre Dame Football fan. He was a loving and caring man and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his brother, Bill Murphy; sister, Rita Isringhaus (Glenn); children, Colleen Donaghy-Ames (Brent), John Donaghy (Tammy), Ed Donaghy (deceased) (Bonney), and Tom Donaghy (Wendy); nine grandchildren, Carson Ames (Megan), Kyle Ames, Taylor Donaghy (deceased), John-John Donaghy (Venessa), Ryan Donaghy (Sarah Beth), Meggan (deceased), Andrew Donaghy, Kelli Rose (Donaghy) and Chris LaRouche, Evan Donaghy, and Eileen Donaghy; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Jeff Isringhaus, Ted Keyes, Suzie Behrens, Susan Gatlin, Cathy Hayen, Jim Murphy, Mike Murphy, Bill Murphy, and Joe Murphy; and special friend, Henrietta Farr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; brothers, John, James and Eugene; and sister, Rose Marie.

A Rosary Service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. and Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., both at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Vincent DePaul, c/o St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 625 S. Elliott Street, Wenatchee.
